Ramadan and Eid
Ramadan - the Muslim holy month of fasting - is marked by students at Duke with iftars, Maghrib prayers, and taraweeh being hosted by Muslim Life at Duke for all to attend in the Center for Muslim Life, which also coordinates transportation to Eid al-Fitr prayers. Be sure to check your emails for details!
Eid Banquet is one of Duke MSA's biggest events of the fall semester, being a celebration of Eid al-Adha - the Muslim holiday commemorating the end of the Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) and the sacrifice of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Hundreds of Duke students of all faiths attend a night of student performances, guest speakers, and catered halal dinner had in the company of friends!
Muslim students who wish to do so can sign up to attend Eid prayers together on Eid-al-Adha, or attend one of the local mosques' services - check your emails to know when!
