Reminder: It is Finals Week

10-15 December

Duke

To the fellow followers (pun anyone?), now begins the week that we all dread, fear, and pray extra nafil to avoid. Well guess what, we can't escape, leaving our toil through inexorable. This is the week to be strong, to resist irrational lassitude, and to frame your mind to that of infrangible hardihood and tenacity. If you're hungry for victory, thirsty for success, then quench it with the knowledge crafted in your books, for the satiety of triumph is unparalleled.

Word hard; winners never quit.

-Goodluck, we hope to see you all after Winter Break iA!

White Ribbon Campaign - Domestic Violence Discussion

5 December, Thursday, 6:30 pm

CML

"Do you know the rates of Domestic Violence in the Muslim American community? The answer might surprise you. The bottom line is, domestic violence is a problem in the Muslim American community. For everyone. Women, men, boys, and girls. But there is a lot we can do as young Muslims once we understand the dynamics of domestic violence and the role of mosques and the greater community. Come for a discussion on complexities of domestic violence and action steps we can bring back to our own communities. "

Please join us at the Duke Center for Muslim Life at 6:30 pm this Thursday, December 5, for a discussion on complexities of domestic violence and action steps we can bring back to our own communities. The discussion will be moderated by Maryam al Zoubi, an activist in the anti-domestic violence and sexual exploitation scene. She received her Masters in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago in 2013. Her thesis research focused on the reactions of Imams to domestic violence in their communities.  Maryam is also active in the greater Muslim community, trying to empower Muslims to use their faith as a tool against oppression. She is currently a first year law student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dinner will be catered from Mediterranean Deli!

RSVP at the Facebook page here, and contact Sania Rahim at rahim DOT sania AT gmail.com for any questions, concerns, suggestions.
